Technoratiが毎年出す“State of the Blogosphere”の2009年版によると，ブロガーの68%が35歳以上で，ブロガーの男性比率が68%となっている。一方，Sysomosの発表によると，Twitterユーザーの35歳以上の割合はわずか12%で，男性比率は47%となっている。

最近はツイッターの台頭により，ブログの影が薄くなっている。｢ツイッターで忙しくて，ブログなんかやってられない｣と，ブログ離れのツイッター中毒者が幅を利かせている。
