WSJが“Wall Street”紙でなくなる？

　WSJ（Wall Street Journal）が新聞紙名を変えるとの噂が飛び交っている。

　Virietyでも，次のような記事が。

　One insider says the smart money is on the paper being renamed simply the Journal, given Murdoch's stated intent to beef up non-finance coverage.

　WSJが“Wall Street”を取り払って，“the Journal”になるかもと。本当そうなるとは思えないが，マードックの意向を汲み取った推測である。

　ＴＶのインタービュー番組でも，マードックは次のように語っている（Huffingtonの記事より）

There's a great deal of news from Washington and around the world in the Journal that is not strictly financial. We'll expand that, but not at the cost of what we're doing with the financial community and the business community in the world.

　単なる、ウォールストリート街のファイナンシャル紙ではなくて，世界に向けてもっと親しみやすい新聞に変身させたいようだ。Financial Times のみならずNew York Timesも競合紙とあげているのも，またWSJ.comを無料化にして世界の2000万人にリーチさせたいと主張しているのも，そのためであろう。
