有力新聞が軒並み部数を落としているなかで，Wall Street Journalが前年並みで踏み止まっているのが目立つ。News Corp傘下に収まり，マードックの意向を汲み取った紙面刷新効果で頑張っているのか。Wall Street JournalのWebサイト（WSJ.com）も元気が良い。同サイトの有料読者数は103万5085人と，1年間で11%増となった。またThe Wall Street Journal Digital Network (WSJ.com, MarketWatch.com, Barrons.com and AllThingsD.com) のビジター数は70%増で，ページビューは32%増になったという。
一方で対抗のNew York Times紙は暗い。平日版が3.9%減で，日曜版は9.2%減である。今年に入って，更に厳しさを増している。
